What are your 3D printing procedures?
Answer
Please see our 3D Printing Procedures handout.
Design Creation
- 3D designs may be created with computer-aided drafting (CAD) software. The County Library recommends www.tinkercad.com, a free, online CAD software created for entry-level users.
- 3D designs may also be downloaded from file-sharing websites such as www.thingiverse.com. The user is responsible for ensuring designs are within compliance of all copyright and property laws.
Slicing
- 3D designs must be sliced using the software provided by The County Library. Instructions are provided for those needing to learn how to utilize the software.
- Once slicing is completed, the design must be approved by library staff before printing.
- After slicing, staff will let you know how much the print will cost and request payment.
Printing
- After starting the print job, you do not need to be present during the duration of the print job.
- Upon completion of the print job, a staff member will contact you, if you are not present.
- The quality of 3D prints is the sole responsibility of the user. Failed prints due to 3D design should be reworked.
- Failed prints due to machine malfunction or failure will be scheduled for reprinted at no cost.
- The County Library cannot guarantee the quality of the print job. Payment is required regardless of quality of print job.
- Print quality is not guaranteed.
- Refunds will not be given for any 3D print job.
