The Salt Lake County Mayor's budget for 2023 included a proposal for a tax increase for the County Library. The tax increase was approved by the County Council as part of the 2023 budget on December 6, 2022.

The County Library is funded through property taxes paid by Salt Lake County residents. County residents have not previously seen an increase to the County Library tax in ten years.
